“I just purchased this router today and set it up according to the supplied Setup Guide. I downloaded the Linksys app as stated and gave a name to a band. Not sure if it was a 5ghz band or a 2.4ghz band. There is no more options for another band. Why?”

You'll have to access the settings through your web browser on a hardwired ethernet PC/laptop. Then disable the wifi band steering. Then you have the option to connect to the 2.4GHz or 5GHz. The 2nd 5GHz is reserved for the Mesh devices.
