• I would say YES a Magic Jack can be connected, but NOT directly to the modem. I have two Magic Jacks, therefore two different phone numbers. One MJ is connected to one of the Windows 7 computers (via USB port) on the wired network. The other MJ is connected directly into a Linksys 8 port switch then is connected wired over some distance to the Linksys router. Both MJ work well with this configuration. Hope this helps.

• Negative. You have a cable modem. That means coax cabling. Telephone wire is 3 or 9 pin. Very different.

• I did hook my phone line to it and have had no problems making or receiving phone calls.. I have the triple play with comcast, everything works great.
