The 10,000 square feet is probably an unobstructed circle. Area=pi × r (squared). Therefore, roughly 56 unobstructed feet would be the max distance for a usable signal. Be sure to put it on an exterior wall outlet with the least amount of obstructions around it and/or use an extension cord to get it to the best spot. Use a Wi-Fi signal meter app on your phone to monitor your results actively during during. Linksys, please send me another one for helping you out here. I don't know why you couldn't explain that Wi-Fi is sent out in the natural form of a circle and therefore that is how you come up with 10,000 square feet for coverage area.

Please try again later.This was the exact reason I purchased this extender and I'm very satisfied with it , my unattached garage is 40 feet from my house and it gives me a full signal anywhere within the garage where before I just got a weak signal at the door opening ! I haven't fully tested it outside the garage but within 20 feet around the outside it still brings in the signal ! Hope this helps you !

If its in the open air I can easily see it reaching a few hundred feet (depending on whether you use 2.4 or 5Ghz networking). The more obstructions / walls etc in the way will cut down the distance. One important thing to note is that you have to try and put this 'in the middle' between where the current router is , and where the 'dead zone' is. For example if the camper is 300ft away from the main wifi router, then you'll probably need to plug this into an AC outlet somewhere around 150ft from the main router which may or may not be practical if you have no AC outlets in the middle.
