“Do I need a router/wireless AP or a WiFi range extender? My wireless router is in my basement. I'm having trouble connecting my smart TV on the second floor. I was thinking about adding a WiFi extender, but I read an article which stated a second router used as a wireless AP would be more reliable. If I did that, I'd use the newest router near my cable modem and the older router upstairs. What do I need so that I can best resolve this issue once and for all? Thanks and Merry Christmas!”

Did not use it in this matter. I think if you wire from one to another it would be great.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.While the Wifi extender suffices, I'd recommend a router in between the points to completely regenerate the signal. The reason for that is you may be exceeding the recommended number of devices for your original router.
