“I got this router with the premise that it would handle up to 800 mbps speed on the 5ghz band and up to 300 mbts on the 2.4 band. However, I have a 200 mbps plan and it has never given me more than 97 mbps on the 5 htz, and 40 on 2.4g.What can I do?”

Get a different router if you are referencing Internet downlink speeds. This one is only capable of 100Mbit to the Internet, contrary to the description here. Don't know it's WiFi-to-WiFi speed capability.
