If you do receive a weaker Wi-Fi signal in your basement, you can always add a Linksys Wi-Fi booster/extender in your basement receptacle. However, I have (14) assorted items which depend on a wired and wireless Wi-Fi signals throughout my home, and I do receive very strong signals 24 hours a day without any dropouts. You also do need a powerful Modem as well to send it's signal to the WRT3200ACM Linksys Router. The best Modem on the market right now is the ARRIS SB6190 Surfboard, which is what I also have connected to my new Linksys WRT3200ACM Router. I hope this helps you.

I would think that on the 5ghz band, you may have problems as its range and ability to travel through obstructions is somewhat limited. On the 2.4ghz band, I would suspect that your chances are very good to have a quality connection.

I have a 2700 sqft home (no basement), and the router is located on top floor, far corner of home. I received reliable signal everywhere, but bandwidth was lacking. Thankfully, I have a ethernet line from that corner of the home to the other, so I just hooked up another router in bridge mode, and all my issues are resolved.
