- Answer If you install OpenWRT on it easily you can use it with any VPN compatible with the OpenVPN standard and it's much more secure locally as well.

- Answer Hi Rhaseley. It is recommended that the router will be connected via an Ethernet cable to your modem. We can suggest using a Range Extender instead to extend your network from your Home to the Office.

- Answer This router is Not a modem. It is a great router that will provide WiFi and direct connections. However, it is not a modem. As far as the modems go... It depends on the speed of your internet as to what you need. My personal preference is that I do NOT like the all in one modem/router combos. If you are going 250mbs and above... Get a modem that is on your carriers approved list and get it with as many download and upload channels as you can. 4 band, 8 band, 16 band etc. This is not referring to the WiFi bands... Such as 2.4ghz and 5.1ghz. I mean the number of active download bands you can have at one time.

- Answer If you have a connection to the internet already there is some type of connection / modem somewhere in the network. If this is the case then you are just adding a wireless hub to the network and should check with the network admin before proceeding. If this is a single family home with cat5 installed properly you may be setting up your own network and may need a modem to connect. If not you will need to find where the already installed modem is for future reference/ replacement.

- Answer 4K content requires around 25Mbps download speeds for each stream you are watching at the same time. The router is capable of streaming 4K but your internet connection will not handle it. You would have to upgrade your speeds with your internet provider.

QuestionI'm looking for a VPN router. I searched Linksys WRT 3200 ACM. But no VPN function is mentioned in the product feature. Does it have VPN feature? What is "DD-WRT firmware for VPN compatibility"?

- Answer If you already have a VPN provider such as IPVanish, NordVPN, etc. then you can configure this router to work with your subscribed to VPN provider. DD-WRT is a Linux based opensource firmware for routers. All the settings will be totally different than the original manufacturers firmware if you install DD-WRT firmware but you can do a lot more with it but it's not for the not so tech savvy people unless you can follow how-to instructions. Most VPN providers if you have subscribed to them already will have a how-to configure instruction page that you can follow in order to get this router to work with their VPN service and it doesn't always require you to install DD-WRT firmware. ExpressVPN has their own firmware that you can install and it will route everything using their network. It's pretty easy to use.
