no they said we had to do it. Bought this phone for mom for Christmas and still havent got it activated. Very difficult. Our 22 year old daughter had problems.

yes I asked them to help connect to me with this task and they did so and about 15 minutes later I was done

No, the activation is on your own. You need a computer, tablet or (separate) smartphone with a good internet connection to do this. The new phone comes with an actual paper booklet that describes the process quite well.
