That is correct. Pressing the button will connect you with their call center. There is a speaker and microphone in the unit itself so you can talk back and forward without a phone or a base unit. That being said, we have had two defective units that would not charge or operate properly. We are abandoning Lively for another service. A friend has had a system for a number of years with great success. Perhaps their manufacturing is slipping.

It's portable and mobile, so not to tied to one location; it's also water resistant so can be used in the shower as well. You will need an internet connection-- either computer or a smart phone-- to set up the device and establish service the first time. If you, or a trusted loved one, has a smart phone, their app can be configured to send them alerts should you ever need to press the button for help. Also, the app can alert them if the battery needs charging, etc.
