No, there is no volume control. But, the microphone is very sensitive and I'm pretty sure they can hear you. If you can't hear them, it is still better that they call 911 for you, even if you don't need serious emergency help. There are lights on it that flash, and that may alert a hard of hearing person that the device has been triggered. The instruction book is quite thorough, and Customer Service is very helpful. If it doesn't work for you- take it back.
