Q: QuestionThe magnetic lanyard. Could this be a problem. Since my husband has a pacemaker. He was told to stay away from magnets

• A:Answer It is a very small magnet that just connects the 2 ends of the lanyard together. And it would be behind your neck. But, the instruction book also addresses this and it states that you should keep the device 6 inches or more between the device and your pacemaker. Do not wear it in a breast pocket. And turn the device off if you feel there is any interference with the pacemaker. There is a clip for wearing it on your waistband, rather than around your neck. But, then you wouldn't have the fall detection.

• A:Answer I lost my previous one, and when I purchased this one (btw - it was $20 less expensive through Best Buy than online through the LIvely website, and there was no charge for delivery since I picked it up). As far as I know, there was no additional charge to reactivate this new model. But my monthly charge is $49.00, as it was before, because I have the fall detection.

• A:Answer No, there is no volume control. But, the microphone is very sensitive and I'm pretty sure they can hear you. If you can't hear them, it is still better that they call 911 for you, even if you don't need serious emergency help. There are lights on it that flash, and that may alert a hard of hearing person that the device has been triggered. The instruction book is quite thorough, and Customer Service is very helpful. If it doesn't work for you- take it back.

Q: Questionhow do you remove the device from the belt clip?

• A:Answer The device slips in from top to bottom. It would be removed the opposite way. It is in there tight though! Maybe leveraging the bottom of the device against a table edge would force it loose. Also, the Clip deactivates fall detection, if subscribed to it, while the device is in place.

• A:Answer Calls from a Lively Mobile2 are answered by the special Urgent Response department. The calls do not go directly to 911. Our advisors field many types of calls and partner with users' local EMS dispatch on their behalf when necessary. (Medical, auto emergencies, lockout/locksmith needs, call an emergency contact for user. Needs big and small.)
