No strap or fastener of any kind. The cover just lays on top, similar to the Apple case.

This case is an open type and it has a rubber grip edge that you wrap over the edge of your tablet to hold it so it doesn't fall out. It has an edge when you turn it for the wide angle that holds it in place.
