• Yes, I have used both. They only thing is the iPad has to be in the vertical position to work with the keyboard so you have to write like you are writing on the wall if you also want to be able to type. You can't lay the iPad on a table beside the keyboard.

• Yes you can use the pen when the pad is hooked up to keyboard.
