• I use it with my gaming laptop and gaming mouse. It works well. It would be fine on your mahogany desk.

• Yes, you coulld place your laptop on it and it won't slide anywhere and then use the mat for your mouse pad too. I believe my Logitech mat actually enchances the looks of my work spece. A very worthy purchase and addition to your desk space, Bev.
