It sounds like you have a faulty model. I put energizer batteries in it five months ago and never turn mine off, and have still not needed to replace the battery. Theoretically the battery issue could possibly be the quality of the batteries, but the connection issue is something else entirely.

It could even be a defective piece of equipment that's just causing it to happen. I've had some Wireless texts like that they were just for some reason not functioning properly and the only way to resolve it was to replace it with a different one. Sometimes reaching out to the manufacturer may help.

Have you tried using the USB receiver instead of Bluetooth? Either way, it should not be burning through batteries that quickly. It does sound like it could be an issue with the Bluetooth connection. Pairing uses significantly more battery, so if it keeps going into pairing mode, it would use the battery faster. If you don't already have it installed, please install Logitech Options. It will give you updates and the ability to customize the buttons. You can find it here: https://support.logi.com/hc/en-ca/articles/360056450274-Download-Stub-ERGO-M575-Wireless-Trackball
