• Actually it CAN be used well with a smartphone. I hook it up to a Samsung S6 using a Radio Shack converter plug easily gotten from them. Sound is superb

• They are meant for computer use and you can use them on a phone just might have to buy a splitter jack or just plug the green one in

• This would not work with a smart phone due to needed both input and output jacks in order to use both the earphones and the microphone. I would suggest either a bluetooth device or a simple wired headset such as the infamous "white headset" that comes with a goodly number of phones.
