• This is a normal infrared remote, so it needs to see your device's ir receiver port.

• I don't know if this model will or not. All of my gear is in line of sight. I had a media room up until last year and I used a different Logitech remote that could operate all of my equipment without being line of sight however, that remote will cost you about $350.00 dollars but; it does work and has a recharging station.
