The Remote display does not show the volume being increased or decreased. I do not believe both controls will work properly. The remote used to turn on the TV, Settop Box,etc, etc will be the control that will work. I tried using 2 of the same remotes for your exact purpose and they did not work at the same time. Only the remote that turned everything on worked.
