“I have a sound system in my home-- Sonos, cd player, blue ray player.-technics receiver,-marantz receiver, -cable box. All of this equipment is in the next room,my question is "Will the signal go thru the wall to activate the equipment.”

This device is infrared only, and hence the signal will not travel through walls like a blue tooth signal. Again, infrared DOES NOT pass through walls. If you hooked up an infrared repeater, then it could control the devices in the adjacent room, but even the repeaters I have bought before are hit and miss depending on where you place the repeater in the adjacent room to ensure the signal reaches all of the devices. The infrared repeater is two devices and acts like a radio. In one room it picks up the signal, converts it to a signal that can pass through walls, and the other repeater in the other room then coverts it back into an infrared signal. But you have to make sure that both devices are easily visible and not blocked and are facing the appropriate direction. Try searching for the "X10 Powermid PM5900 Remote Control Extender Kit" as a possible solution in Amazon.
