• I cannot speak to the 890 exactly but I can speak to the Harmony One 915. And this remote is definitely quicker to wake but the touch screen lag is still there when changing channels. I think it's more of a getting used to than a awkward screen lag. Remote is much more responsive than previous models.

• I have never had an issue with this remote. I touch it and it wakes up. Has never failed.

• i have had this remote for a couple of months now and have not had any of the issues you mentioned. this replaced an old harmony 900 and is light years ahead.
