Yes, when starting an activity (like watching TV) you can have the touchscreen default to the number buttons. However, I've rather enjoyed the Favorite Channels buttons, which you customize. Just press a button with channel's logo on it to tune directly to it. I find that I use the numbered buttons far less often, but there is a page of them, and to access them, I just swipe the screen like I would do on my phone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As there are no buttons, you use the touchscreen. You swipe right to left or vice versa to change the view on the screen. The remote will also allow you to setup shortcuts on one of the screens to save your favorite channels.

Most of what I watch is on the DVR and the hard keys work great for that. I use mine with DIRECTV. And Amazon Fire, Apple TV and BluRay. It also controls my projector, HDMI switch and lights behind the TV Screen.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you are correct. you need to swipe the touch screen to get the number pad. it is somewhat less convenient, but i don't use the numbers that often. and i'm getting used to it. still much better than my old harmony 900 overall.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Remote is very intuitive. You can use touchscreen channel numbers easily. But the beauty of this remote is the macro control capability. Instead of pressing individual channel numbers you press the channel icon on the touchscreen and the remote sends the channel numbers.
