“What are the 5 buttons just above "exit & menu buttons " for? Regarding the 4 colored buttons on the bottom ---I know the red one on the left is to change to an HD TV channel. What are the other ones for?”

No idea and I was told by Best Buy "Geek" don't bother trying to find out because Logitech won't be supporting this product in the future.

If it does then the Harmony remote should emulate the same functions your original remote does for each color. Or you can reprogram them. Read your manual for the device in question to find out what functions the colored buttons perform when pressed.
