I've used this trackball device for years. The ball pops out easily. Bring it to the washroom, lather up your hands with ordinary handsoap and wash the ball twice with the lather on your hands to remove the oils that invisibly accumulate on the ball. Also, remove the dust on the three points that the ball rests on. If you travel with the trackball, keep it in a ziplock bag inside your laptop case.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would avoid scraping or scratching the ball: that makes it run less smoothly on the bearings. Yes, the ball is smooth. I happen to have pretty soft hands myself. I find that applying a little more pressure suffices. Sometimes the ball feels sluggish and slow: then it's more difficult to move. In my experience that is caused by dust build-up on the bearings. Pop out the ball and clear off the dust, to fix it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.some have responded your fingers are too dry. Might be correct. OR you might not want to lotion up making your fingers too slippery.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It could be dirty. Remove the ball itself and see if there is any dust builtup on the contacts. Best to used the canned air you use for cleaning a keyboard. I have to do this regularly with mine. Then it just flies! Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After a lot of use, the ball picks up oil from your hand which in turn transfers to the contact points under the ball. Simply remove the ball and carefully dust off the 3 small white points the ball rests on. Some times if your skin is too dry, the ball may not turn. Try putting a little (optimum being a little) lotion on your hands. Hope this works for you , it does for me .
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello, there is no recommended options to make the trackball grip better. Any modification to the device would void the limited warranty offered with the device. Any alterations of the trackball itself could change its function in the tracking of the curser on the monitor causing jumping, or lag. It is not recommended to alter the trackball mouse.
