“i am not getting any sound with these speakers when plugged into my desktop computer. there is nothing to setting it up at all but when i turn it on nothing at all comes out of them. i have a Samsung computer. do they work with any computer”

They should work with any computer that has the 3.5mm audio jack (speaker port). just make sure it is correctly seated all the way into the port. I have used them across three different computers at work, my cell phone, and my laptop. as for speakers not working, I had this problem with the second computer at work. turned out the computer was missing an audio driver file. This was easily remedied by installing the drivers

I thought HP was supposed to be automatic in searching for and installing new devices but I guess not, because it didn't do that for the speakers.

But there might be a something in the computer settings that you have to change to enable the pc speakers to be used as the output.
