“I had a surround system 15 years ago and anything on tv, sports, movies were not truly stereo surrounding sound. Only DVD’s. Has the technology gotten any better since then?”

Yes, technology has improved significantly. Modern surround sound systems, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, offer much more immersive and accurate 3D audio for TV, movies, and sports, going beyond the limitations of older DVD formats and systems. The Z906 is a good option for an upgrade.
