This camera records with motion detection only, it will not detect audio and start recording. It is compatible with google assistant and amazon echo. You can also download the Lorex Home app and it would work on an iPhone 8. Compatibility List: https://help.lorextechnology.com/alert/smart-home-new-list-compatible-devices
