• Nope. HDMI is a standard High Definition Multimedia Interface which the Mac Mini M1 fully supports. The Mac Mini M1 HDMI interface is a full HDMI connection not a mini or micro. The 2014 Mac Mini also has this standard full HDMI connector as well as others. You will need a standard HDMI cable.

• Your HDMI cable should be fine. That should not have changed, since 2014. You will, however, have a shortage of old style USB ports. Only 2, I think, so will need to upgrade to USB-C cables, or get adapters.
