My daughter used it for virtual/online classes and it worked great. Panopto wasn't used.

You will not go wrong with the MacBook Air with the M1 chip. It is plenty fast to use for your school work. We use this exact model for our digital literacy classes in our organization. Nothing but positive feedback from our students.
