A:Answer The material is waterproof. I got caught in some rain the other day and the water did bead-up so I could wipe it off. It's a very well padded bag, too. It would take a lot of rain to get to the camera. However, the side zippers - although nylon and locked - have a small well rather than overlapping covers so water could pool there if you get caught in a very heavy downpour. If water did get into the side pockets, it's doubtful it would reach the camera. See the photo showing how the side zippers are configured. Overall I am very happy with this bag; I bought it specifically for an old Hasselblad 500. See the photo of the inside of the bag; like other Manfrotto bags, the red pad is movable; you can custom the inside. My camera fits perfectly with for room for film, etc. It's also a very comfortable bag to carry even with the heavy load of an old metal camera. All that said, if you are going to take this bag into the wilderness or be in situations when you will be more exposed to the elements, I would recommend a bag that has covers for all zippered areas. Hope that helps.
