Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Someone wrote on Amazon "yes" but I was not able to remove. I was actually afraid of putting too much pressure on trying to rotate off (and didn't attempt to use a tool). There is nothing in the manual that shows head removal. This is not a pro Manfrotto where you can swap out $200-$500 heads. It is a backpack tripod. The head was made specifically for the size and weight of this tripod. To add anything heavier would not be advised. There is a smartphone holder included. If you want for shooting video look for a different tripod with fluid head or ball head.
