No. It will run completely off of battery. I have yet to run a battery down and we use our heavily.

No, has a battery installation and a wired dock. Just charge the portal on the dock just as you would do a cell phone then when charged carry it around anywhere you have your internet connection and it stays charged for hours

This particular model has an internal battery. Much like a phone, it'll need charged. Once charged, it's portable and doesn't need to be plugged in.
