A:AnswerNo you have to answer the call, if it was just open that would leave the ability to just jump on a camera in someone's house. Its has been amazing for my wife staying connected with her niece. Worth the investment and the story telling through it as it put your face in the little pig story, its really well done.

A:AnswerFrom what I can tell, they must have a portal in order to drop in on them, I believe they also need a Facebook account. Which is a waste for me and my family since we all have an Alexa.
A:AnswerI use the Facebook portal to video call using FB messenger OR the WhatsApp. FB messenger is based on who we are connected / friends with on Facebook. And I think WhatsApp is the same.
A:AnswerNo everyone has to own a Facebook Portal also everyone has to have a Facebook account. We made one for my mother in law so she could be connected with us.
A:AnswerFacebook Portal isn’t a tablet, and no Chrome, although it does have its own simple web browser. Generally speaking, it does one thing well and that’s keeping in touch with people who use Facebook Messenger and/or WhatsApp (Which has been truly great for our family throughout COVID stay home). It has Alexa integration and some very limited apps but it has to be plugged in to a wall, no battery. If there’s much else you need I would recommend a different product.
