If you’re looking to upgrade from the factory stereo to a aftermarket, you’ll need to bypass the tuner which is located in the trunk. This means running a harness from the rear of the vehicle, to the factory “radio” location. Look up part # 99-5717 for Taurus models with analog climate controls or 99-5719 for digital climate controls. Those kits will supply you with the harness and antenna extension to bypass the tuner as well!
