The Surface Laptop 2 has a Mini-Display port on the left side of it for a monitor. You would need a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter to get that to work. Even if you get a Surface Docking Station, the official one from Microsoft also has two Mini Display Port outputs for monitors.
