Since the surface pro is more like a computer versus a 'tablet' complete with a computer OS - Windows 8.1 - my understanding is that you will be able to install any programs just like you would a computer. The cost of this software, i do not know. But it would be the same price ( since it is the same software ) as you would buy for your laptop or desktop computer. I know this is not a complete answer but hope it helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well if you read the specs, the RT build just know as surface 2 comes with an rt version of office, this time they added outlook, it was missing on first build. It's free with surface 2, but with surface pro 2 I use office 365 because I have several systems, even installs on my android cell. It cost about 10 bucks a month or you can buy it for an entire year..your call. I am just using the monthly for now. One catch a lot of people forget, if you plan on uninstalling it, be sure to go to your Microsoft account for office 365 and deactivate it first, or you will loose an install. For the price, you get 5 installs almost on every device or os. If anything else, please let me know. I pre ordered Surface pro 2 with 256 gigs, plus a 64 gig micro . That's plenty of room for me since I am retired now, but for work I would get the 512 build. One more app that comes with it is Skype plus free minutes, and 200 gigs of sky drive for 2 years. Anything else?
