Actually bought the Macbook Air and returned it for the Surface 3 for 3 reasons: 1. Didn't want to learn a new operating system 2. No touch screen 3. Keyboard not detachable for use as a tablet Hope that helps.

Please try again later.I contemplated this myself, I choose surface pro 3, absolutely love it, no regrets., way more capabilities than MacBook air, if u are an apple lover, windows 8 will take some getting used to, but I myself was on the fence and now I can't imagine not having my surface pro 3. The way one note works with the pen is amazing in itself, I love using it for school and then everything is synced between my phone and my pro.

Lately I have been using the surface and not the MacBook air. If I had to reccomend one Id most likely go with the surface because it's both a tablet and laptop, it's easier to carry around.
