I was told that, as long as it has Pro in the name, it is a computer with the added function of the tablet option. Otherwise, it's just a tablet. I have the SurfacePro 5, and I love it. All of my notes are on it and I always know where they are, but it's still a computer, so it's powerful enough to run Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, as well as my company's VPN software.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You are kind of splitting hairs here. Is your phone a computer, or a phone? Obviously, it has functions specific to a phone, but it also has a microprocessor and runs programs, same as any computer. Using this analogy, the Surface is a tablet, but it also has a microprocessor and runs programs, same as any computer. The advantage of this format is that you don't need a physical keyboard for input, but can either use the virtual one (touchscreen) or add an external keyboard; thus, for one-handed use, it is best. On the other hand, if you purchase a laptop, you get all the ports you would like, and in some cases, the keyboard is detachable and the screen is touch-capable. However, it will probably be heavier and, with the added features mentioned, probably more expensive.
