Most people may not actually need Windows 10 Pro, but you do if you wish to join your computer to a work domain or if you wish to use the Hyper-V server functionality (I bought Pro for the Hyper-V functionality for virtual machine work). There is also an even higher end upgrade called Windows 10 Pro for Workstations or similar, which very few people would actually need, as most people do not have the requisite hardware this is designed for (including me). Oh, and I forgot about BitLocker Device Encryption is available in Pro. Mostly, Pro is designed for business and extra security. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compare-windows-10-home-vs-pro
