Yes you can upgrade, but you don't have to.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you like the start menu user interface of Windows 7, DON'T UPGRADE JUST YET - you will regret it. Microsoft is correcting the issues of Windows 8 that the 8.1 update just couldn't accomplish with the launch of Windows 10. Yes, they skipped # 9 - which still leaves the count off by at least 1 considering all the other versions over the years. Windows 10 will have an interface that combines the start menu of Win 7 with the tile system (metro) of Win 8/8.1, allowing you to use either one or both as you see fit. If you have already dived in and purchased Windows 8.1, don't despair. Microsoft stated they are providing FREE upgrades to Windows 10 for Windows 8.1 users when it comes out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Wait for Windows 10, skip Windows 8 or 8.1.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Even if you upgrade to Windows 8, in the Windows Updates, Windows 8.1 will be asked to be installed - which I recommend to do ASAP. You can upgrade the OS to a newer version, but I never recommend them. My recommendation is to backup your data and start fresh.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think it's best. I was forced to upgrade. There's a slight learning curve, but you gotta put your head down and just do it. Not anything major. It just works a little different. Hasn't been as much of a pain as I thought it would. But, sooner or later, Microsoft will cut it's losses and discontinue making updates for 7, which will put your computer at risk. Like all the XP systems that are no longer eligible for updates because....most of the companies have stopped making the updates. 8.1 I like better, because it did fix a lot of the things people complained about in one and is more similar to the windows of old.
