The adapter helps create a wireless connection between your Xbox Controller and PC via USB port.

If you are using it on a PC you will need the adapter as a wireless interface. If you have an Xbox you don;t need the adapter.

It's for the control to send a signal for the receiver to recognize and register your command on pc for windows10/xbox 1
