Uses 2 AA batteries. There are many official and aftermarket options for rechargeable battery packs you can pop into the back. I personally use quality rechargeable AA batteries with high capacity cells. I do not recommend standard disposable AA batteries. They will die off rather quickly from experience and that's even name brand quality batteries.
