- Answer You do need to activate it I didn't have to give a credit card but eventually you'll have to give a credit card to keep renewing your phone it gives you different options to buy new so-called minutes

- Answer Not sure if you bought it yet but you just buy the minutes or you can ask them to send you one free so you can try out the service. I think you get seven days free and they send you a Sim card kit that you pick which ever one fits your phone.
