• It has to be dark. YOU CAN NOT ADJUST THE BRIGHTNESS..

• Hi, The L300 works best in a dark environment, or an environment you can control the lighting in. The Miroir 1200s can be used in a lighted environment. Thank you. Miroir Team

• You can access the menu but it can be a bit tricky to get to you have to hold the power button down while it starts up. hold it down it may keep cutting off be patient and the menu will show up eventually then you can adjust the settings i found this out the hard way and the manual makes claims this projector does not do like play media from flash drives but i like the picture and the audio not bad for the price I'm not that unhappy with it I was going to buy another I was thinking I got a defective unit but on reading others reviews it seems they all are like this. Good luck.
