Depends on where it's wall mounted or on a stand. If wall mounted the answer is most likely no. If on a stand then you'll need 3-4" between the wall and TV (mostly just to be able to fit the cord which exits the back of the antenna.). However, don't expect that one location to give you the best reception. I found that channels 2 and 4 come in best in one position but to get channel 7 I have to rotate the unit approx. 90 deg. Do i pick up more channels than before...yes but I can't get them all in one position. Had to do several channel scans to determine best position for each channel. Not what I was expecting.

Electronics can cause signal interference from the broadcast towers, so you can test it and see how many channels you receive. If you are not receiving all the available channels, move the antenna to another location and scan the TV for channels again.
