Valley's can be tricky and your TV is too old to work with a digital antenna on it's own. You'll need to search the internet for a search tool that will allow you to enter in your complete address so you can do a channel scan to see if there are viable signals in your area. As for the older TV you may be able to add a digital converter box to your older TV that will allow you to use a digital antenna. Ask the Blue Shirts at Best Buy for help choosing the right converter box for your situation. The make and model of the antenna would help them help you so make sure you take that info with you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We are in a valley outside Reno, NV. It will depend on where your local TV Station towers are located and what affiliates you have within your area. This antenna can reach 50 miles, but if you have mountain ranges between you and the towers or other interferences (no guarantees). So far we get CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, FOX, MyTV and some old time favorites (Matlock, Perry Mason, Diagnosis Murder, and Westerns) to name a few. Your TV is a bit old, but if cable connection is there, then the adapter that comes with it to plug into wall should work since no HDMI existed back then. MOHU website is very educational and offer great support. Good Luck.
