Hi Bill! Great question. With any amplified antenna, if you’re very close to the broadcast towers (usually within about 10 miles), the signals can be so strong that you don’t actually need the extra boost. In those cases, over-amplification can make reception less consistent. Because the Leaf Plus has built-in amplification that’s always on, you can’t disable that boost. If you’re in a strong-signal area, we usually recommend the Mohu Leaf 50 instead. It includes a separate amplifier that you can turn on or off depending on your location, so you get a lot more flexibility. If you’d like, we can help you check your signal strength to see which option will work best! Give us a call at 877-825-5572 or send our customer service team a message at [email protected].

If you would like us to perform a detailed analysis of your location to help determine the best placement options or see if a different antenna will be in your best interest, please give us a call at 877-825-5572.
