Do you need a phone for this watch to function? null

According to the instructions you do not but it works on wifi. Then you have to set up a "plan" through their site first. I have still yet to get it to work. It will need to be wiped and returned because it's more if a hassle. I'm better off getting watch through Verizon to keep track of my daughter's where abouts.
