I only have internet with Optimum (no cable TV or phone) and I was able to recently buy and start using this modem without any problems. I bought the modem, called Optimum to activate it on their end, and that was it. I would imagine you should have a similar experience if you buy the modem, but don't hold it against me if you don't as we may have differences in service plans and equipment with Optimum/Altice.
