• This is just a modem. If you want wifi, get a router. I like having them separate because it is easy to diagnose any connectivity trouble. There is a a modem/router combo you can buy if you don't want two devices.

• Yes, I think that you need a router because it does not transmit wifi.

• Yes. This is just the cable modem, you will still need a router for wireless internet or to split the connection.
