I am Not sure what is the "best compatible wireless router", but I have been running for a couple of months, using an Netgear-Nighthawk AC2400 Wireless Router. I have Not had to reset either the Motorola Cable Modem (MB7220), nor the Netgear Wi-Fi Router (AC2400). However, I think that practically any Wireless Router that is compliant with Ethernet/Wi-Fi "AC/N/G/B/A" specifications will work quite well. I would also suspect that if you have approximately 2000 Sq. Ft. of coverage area (or more) in your House/Condo/Apt, then you would want to use a Wi-Fi Router with "External" Antennae, as opposed to a Router with built-in Internal Antennae. That is one of the reasons I upgraded from my Linksys Wireless Router to the Netgear Nighthawk; as my house is over 2200 Sq. Ft, and I had a couple of weak/deadspots due the Linksys Internal Antenna. Hope this helps.
